Kubernetes in Manufacturing: A Secret to Success

At ContainerDay Manufacturing 2024 in Stuttgart, I spoke about where Kubernetes can create real value in manufacturing and where the technology itself is only the starting point.

The central idea was simple: Kubernetes is most useful when it becomes part of a composable application platform that helps teams deliver software faster, more securely, and with less operational friction. That requires clear responsibilities between product and platform teams, a strong focus on developer experience, and a platform shaped by actual business and technical needs.

My practical recommendation is to start small: assess the fit, prioritize workloads deliberately, build the thinnest viable platform, and iterate from there. The goal is not to collect platform capabilities. It is to give teams the smallest useful set of APIs, tools, and documentation they need to turn ideas into reliable products.
